Creative with Fondant

When it comes to using fondant I like to say I think at times outside of the box.  Using fondant doesn't only have to be just for cakes, cookies & cupcakes.  Last October when Rebecca & Shannon of Fresh Chick Design Studio were planning Rebecca’s “Baby Shower Happy Hour” to celebrate her third baby on the way, I had the idea to create coordinating fondant “glass rimmers” to make her drinks sweet.   For both the taste and presentation for her and her quests.

Take a look!  I adore this whole party from the colors to the reason to celebrate.  I also love the way they designed the cake with the fondant pieces that I sent to her.
You can read and see more details on Hostesswith the Mostess where the party was featured!

What do you think?  What ways would you use fondant pieces while entertaining?

CHEERS!! Happy Friday!  Enjoy your weekend!

30th Birthday Cookies & party sign decor

I wanted to share with you bright and creative party décor and
cookies that I created for my cousin’s 30th birthday recently.
The inspiration was so fun; it was the décor of the Garces Restaurant Group
called Distrito in Philadelphia, PA.
At Distrito there is a plaid postcard wall (see photo below)
which ideally lead me to design the plaid cookie favors.

Along with the cookie favors that were done free hand, you will see the birthday celebration signs that I designed and personalized them with photos of Brian and his family!  All to coordinate with the highly energetic décor of the establishment.

By the way if you live in the Philadelphia area or any where that there is a Garces Restaurant Group eatery, I highly recommend it.  The food and atmosphere was both equally excellent, I hear great things about all their chefs and places.  I will say that the party quest certainly added flare to my experience there, but certainly a must try!

DIY Mickey Mouse Hat

I enjoy being creative with character birthdays without having to buy licensed party goods. There are times as well that the party ware are out of stock in the stores, why this tutorial may come handy one day!

What you need~

Party Hats- the one’s that I used are from Target (click the link for the product)
Construction Paper
Ribbon Roll
Pencil
Scissors
Glue Dots

Cut out enough circles for how many ears you need.  I outlined the circles using a ribbon roll.  Then taking 2 circles at a time so both sides are even, fold over the sides as seen in the pictures.

Take glue dots attach to the circles and attach to the hats.  I used 2 glue dots on each side.
There you have it!

Easter DIY Flower Arrangements

We love the meaning of  Easter & Spring in our house!  Here are a few arrangements that I made last year to bring signs of spring and new life into the house.  All the flowers are bought from our local market, saves me lots of money that's for sure!

Above I have a bunch of daffodils & tulips in a smaller cylinder vase that is inside the larger hurricane.   Around the base you can see the paper grass, jelly beans & peeps to add to the decor.  Easy & Simple!

This arrangement again all store bought bunches of flowers that I arranged for the center of our breakfast  table.  Just  love the colors!  If you have patience and some time,  (it's actually a bit of a stress reliever for  me) you to can make this arrangement and maybe even better!
This one I planted a hyacinth and topped it off with some bright green moss.  After Easter, these girls headed out to the garden.  The filler lasted all summer!  The hyacinth is about to bloom again any day!

I look forward to sharing more Easter flower inspiration with you soon.  Don't forget about this flower arrangement recipe ~ Perfect!

Under the Sea Cookies

Under the sea fondant & royal icing decorated cookies~

I enjoyed making these cookies for the St. Alphonsus School's Father/Daughter Dance last week.
For the water and sand I piped a wavy line and then brushed the icing down with a paint brush and then free hand the rest of the designs.
